DuPont Zemdrain® Controlled Permeability Formwork Liner is made from fine polypropylene fibers, which is assembled to create a sheet with a large number of fine pores of controlled size with appropriate porosity for permeability to water and air. It is used to drain excess water and air away from the concrete cover zone. It is capable of protecting steel reinforcement, and the concrete core, from the attack of aggressive elements.

The two sides of the fabric are different and have different functions

  • The Draining Side: It collects air and water and allows their evacuation at the interface with the shuttering. A specially shaped plastic grid supports it.

  • The Filtering Side: It retains the cement particles at the surface of the concrete so that a dense, strong cover concrete is obtained. It is made of very fine fibers bonded in a way that will not stick to the concrete and no release agent shall be applied on Zemdrain®.

  • The Low W/C Ratio: The low w/c ratio obtained with DuPont Zemdrain® Controlled Permeability Formwork Liner in the concrete cover zone has superior durability to the concrete structure. And there is no need of use of any chemical.
